Plan Your Visit

While a visit to 4-H Children's Gardens is a delightful experience, there are few things that might make your trip even better.

Hours of Operation:

Monday-Friday - Sunup to sundown.

Parking is $3 for 1.5 hours or $5 for 3 hours (see details below).

Free Parking

The garden is open to everyone. We have scavenger hunts and garden information available at the Information Station at the entrance to the garden.

Parking

Our lot has meters that require a token Monday - Friday, 7:30 am-6 pm. Tokens can be purchased at the machine in the parking lot. Parking fees are $3 for one token (1.5 hr) or $5 for two tokens (3 hrs). NOTE: The machine will only accept bills, not change.

Weekend parking is free, except during Wharton Center events. In the case of a Wharton Center event, park behind the Plant & Soil Science Building for free.

Parking fees help support the gardens.

Family Programs

We have a number of family events scheduled throughout the summer. Generally the cost is $5 per child, but some programs are free. For programs held during the day, parking is extra.

During your visit

While you are here, you might want to investigate these things!

  • Do the scavenger hunt (in the Information Station at the entrance to the garden).
  • Bring a picnic lunch and eat in the garden.
  • Dance on the Dance Chimes.
  • Check out the Green Roof in the Pete & Sally Smith Schoolyard Demonstration Garden.
  • Find the PB&J Garden.
  • Walk through the Perennial Display Garden.
  • Check out our Vegetable Garden.
  • Walk through the Annual Trials Garden.
  • Visit the MSU Dairy Store for some great ice cream. (When the visitor's center in the garden parking lot is open, you can buy it there!)
  • Visit the MRI Healing Gardens.
